Decentralizing social media
The current social media state is terrible, with AI everywhere, useless content popping up on your screen, greedy companies, and idiotic actions from the billionaires CEOs against human rights.
I don't really want to use any social media, but I still want to show the things I do and love, this is one of the reasons I created this blog. But there are things that you can't really get from a blog, like connecting to people, or a place to organize my pictures, and looking for inspirations from other peoples posts.
Pixelfed, a replacement for Instagram, connected to the Fediverse, with an early development application for Android, but most of its functionalities are only available on web, but that doesn't make it bad, since I only want to use it on my PC, and I have to say, it is just like the old Instagram, and I love the lack of possibilities, to only see posts of who I follow, or tags I want to see, no reels from creators I don't care to know or ads disturbing me every second.
Replacing Twitter or Threads, Mastodon, that doesn't need introduction, it is a marvelous application, also connected to the Fediverse, there are plenty of clients for both Android and iOS. Another alternative is Bluesky, my favorite social media to use.
What I really appreciate about these platforms is the absence of algorithms trying to grab my attention every time I check them. I get to choose what I see, and it feels more genuine.
